About

I am a marine biologist and geneticist with particular interests in marine ecology, applied science and evolutionary genetics.

I currently work as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Exeter, based in the southwest of the United Kingdom, where I am investigating how genetic variation influences growth in the European lobster.  As part of this project, I am sequencing the genome (all of the DNA blueprint) of the European lobster, which will not only be vital to understanding the molecular mechanisms behind growth, but will be an instrumental resource for uncovering the secrets behind the evolution of lobsters and their closely related cousins.

I am also involved with a number of other international collaborative research projects studying marine species, from economically valuable clawed lobsters and scampi, to octocorals and calcifying seaweeds such as maerl which support a variety of life and are important for marine conservation.
